I’ve been living with chronic fatigue for around 5 years. When I first started experiencing symptoms, I struggled with daily tasks such as washing, dressing and cooking. I rarely got out of bed before noon and still felt shattered even after sleeping for over 12 hours per day. The crushing feeling of chronic fatigue is so different to feeling ‘normal tired’. As chronic fatigue is a common symptom of a lot of illnesses, I wanted to share the products that I use to help ease this symptom. As you will see, I am a big fan of electrical products that do the work for you.
Here are my five favourite products that I use to ease the effects of chronic fatigue in my daily life:
1. Audio Books
No longer being able to read/ not enjoying reading was one of the most upsetting effects of my chronic fatigue. I rarely had the energy to sit up and hold a book and when I did, I was not able to focus on the words. Discovering audio books allowed me to enjoy books again without having to read them myself.
I’ve found that the most cost effective service is Scribd. Find out more here (not aff. link) scribd.com
There is also Audible by Amazon who have a 30 day free trial, however they only let you have one book per month as opposed to Scribd where it is unlimited. Find out more here.
2. Electric Toothbrush
When brushing my own teeth became too difficult for me, I decided to invest in an electric toothbrush. This was such a great decision for me as it took the effort out of brushing and made my morning/night routine so much easier.

3. Lavender Oil
I know the essential oils and aromatherapy get a lot of bad press, but I really do find that lavender oil before bed helps me to relax and sleep better. I still use it on days when I have over exerted myself to help me sleep. I love this pulse point roller ball by Tisserand as it is no mess no fuss, vegan and it mas a mild sent, so it doesn’t disturb the person sleeping next to me. I usually apply it to my collar bone and back of my neck.

4. Slow Cooker
Cooking was another activity that became too taxing for me after developing chronic fatigue, especially cooking things on the hob. Investing in a slow cooker was really a game changer for me. I can cook eight portions in one go and the slow cooker does all the hard work for me. I then save the extra batches in the freezer for later.
I use this one by Morphy Richards https://amzn.to/2RVumF4
5. Noise Cancelling Headphones
Sensory overload was something that I started experiencing in addition to developing chronic fatigue. Whenever I left the house and went somewhere new it felt as if everything was turned up to 11 and I became tired very quickly. Noise cancelling headphones filter out background noise, allowing you to focus on what you need to without distraction.
