Hi, my name is Katherine and I started The Reluctant Spoonie in 2017 as a resource for the newly diagnosed.  At the start of my illness, I did not want to define myself as chronically ill or as a Spoonie and I struggled to find useful resources for myself. I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) in 2016. I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), migraines, chronic fatigue and chronic pain.

I started my MSc for the second time in 2018 after taking a career break of over 3 years due to my POTS. I’m a writer for The Mighty and a crafter for Spoonie Survival Kits.

Check out my crafts section if you want to try out a new craft activity. If you’re currently a student, check out my Spoonie Student segment for tips on how to succeed as a chronically ill student.

If my blog has helped you in any way, please let me know. I love connecting with others in the chronic illness community. Find ways to contact me here.
