Zines are a fun, low-cost way to share a topic that you are passionate about with others. If you are looking for a new low-energy hobby in 2021, then this A4 zine tutorial is for you.

I made this zine during an online workshop. Mine is about making events accessible. You can make yours about any topic that you are passionate about. This zine tutorial is for an A4 folded zine with 8 pages. You can find a pdf version of this zine at the end of this post!

A4 Zine Tutorial
Step 1

Print or draw your zine on one side of a sheet of A4 paper. You can see the page order in the above photo. There is space for six internal pages plus a front and back cover.
Step 2

Fold the sheet in half, putting the short edges together as shown above.
Step 3

Unfold the sheet and make another fold along the long edge placing the two long edges of the sheet together.
Step 4

Fold the cover inwards towards the third page as shown in the above photo.
Step 5

Flip the sheet over and fold the fourth page towards the back cover as shown in the above photo.
Step 6

Unfold the whole sheet and fold it back along the short edge fold. Get your scissors and cut into the centre along the top of the second page as shown in the above photo.
Step 7

Unfold the sheet again and fold it along the long edge again. You will now have a hole in the middle. Push the pages inwards to create your zine.
Step 8

After pushing the pages inwards, you will have page 3 and 4 on top. This is the middle of your zine. Fold this in half to make your final product.
